Received his DPhil from the University of Oxford, where he won the Ryle Prize. Research spans philosophical logic, epistemology, and philosophy of language, with recent focus on philosophy of AI.

Senior Researcher at Google on the Paradigms of Intelligence Team and Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy, University of London. Research combines philosophical and empirical approaches to AI cognition, consciousness, moral status, and their implications for AI ethics and safety. Co-led Google's first empirical study on machine sentience.

Visiting Research Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University. Previously a computer vision engineer at Harvard University where he designed the first experimental infrastructure for single-cell cognition experiments. Former neural engineer at Johns Hopkins Hospital and affiliated research scientist at Meta Reality Labs. Studied neuroscience and philosophy at JHU.
